Empowering youth through education, sports and recreation
YOUTH NETWORK INC.
The chess and scrabble club staff believes in academic excellence and understands that a balance of healthy recreation and activities that engages youth cognitive skills will prepare them for life challenges as they mature and develop.
Through our relationship with The Philadelphia After-School Activities Partnership (ASAP) and the Tustin Recreation Center, we are able to provide an environment where school aged students can learn and enjoy the game of chess and scrabble.
Ultimately, we see these two recreational activites as promoting good moral conduct and mutual respect while helping children build self-esteem, loyalty, sportsmanship and a sense of human accomplishment. The goal is to train youth and prepare them to compete in local, national and international chess leagues, tournaments and other related competitions. The program runs two days a week from September to June at the Tustin Recreation Center in Philadelphia, PA.
Through the efforts of Philadelphia's ASAP program, we were able to organize chess clubs throughtout Philadelphia.
